Guided Trail Rides & Off Road Education planned for Dixie Run 28

SFWDA is now offering both guided trail rides inside of Golden Mountain Park as well as excursion rides around the Sparta area for everyone at Dixie Run. We plan to guide all the rigs that attend through scenic back roads and country roads while we spend some time along the route to explore some of the beautiful scenery the Cumberland Plateau area of Tennessee is known for. All of this is included with your admission to Dixie Run 28. We plan to offer a brief training course regarding Off Road best practices led by a master trainer and certified "Tread Lightly" instructor, Scott Fields. We will follow with a brief Drivers meeting and tech inspection before departing.

"The plan is to run a morning and afternoon block of rides for Moderate and Advanced Moderate vehicle participants."

Be sure to look for our new designated trail category flags at DR28

Flag Indicators for Guided Trail Rides

  • Blue - Moderate (Stock to Mildly Modified)
  • Red - Advanced Moderate (35" Tires, Lockers and Trail Modified)
  • Yellow - Excursions (All DOT registered rigs)

As part of our core mission SFWDA proudly promotes Off Road Education at our events and will be offering a brief 30-45 minute Off Road Safety and Techniques course led Scott Fields of the Uwharrie Off Road Training Center on both Friday and Saturday afternoon starting at 12:15pm at the staging area for guided trail rides. You might cover such topics as winching techniques, and vehicle extraction as well as how to properly traverse off-camber muddy hill climbs, and functional techniques on driving over large obstacles like downed trees or boulders. Scott makes a living as a Professional Off Road driving instructor so this should be a real treat to all who participate.

Cumberland Off-Road Club has volunteered to run a Moderate group Friday to the Big Bottoms area outside of GMP; and Rock Solid Club will guide an excursion ride on both Friday and Saturday afternoons to Middle Tennessee scenic vistas, waterfalls and state parks. There will also be guided rides around Golden Mountain Park trails which will occur Friday and Saturday as well. The ride for each day will be to a different destination to keep it fresh, fun, and exciting each time we go out.

Volunteer Trail Leaders include:

  • Danny Kinder, Georgia Trail Riders
