I believe this is intended to be a meeting with the Rescue Tellico representatives that have been meeting with the FS for the last year and not a public meeting.

That's my understanding too, Roger.
This is a small stakeholder meeting with a few of the Rescue Tellico people to discuss the Alternatives in the EA.

In preparation for our answer to the EA, SFWDA contracted Caliber Engineering to do an environmental study of the Streams at Tellico and survey the trails and if they concluded that they could be saved to recommend required work to repair the trails. Caliber concluded that all the trails are repairable, their report is available at http://www.sfwda.org/trails/tellico/study09/ for your review.

This has been my arguement the whole time. We can repair these trails and keep them maintained. The Forest Service just thought it would be easier to close them. If man can build some of the most amazing structures in the world why can't we better engineer our trails. I, for one, am happy about this study and the results. I hope the FS will take note and see that both uses can exist.

Man, that was a LONG read - but a good one.
FYI - Page 51, item #2, "regarded" should be "regraded". |

The only thing I would like to see is MORE trails added in the future. |

I'm all for that as well. I think it can be managed but you have to want to manage it. It's easy to turn your back and let things fall apart. I hope the FS takes home the message that Tellico can be a model by which other NFs can follow.
