Tellico Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2005 - We recently received a comprehensive report from Bill Champion, Supervisory Forester, of all the work accomplished at Upper Tellico OHV Area in Fiscal Year 2005 (October 2004 – September 2005).   Southern Four Wheel Drive Association (SFWDA) was the primary volunteer group on all of these projects. The total estimated value of volunteer labor and equipment was an astounding $55,000 ! …

Tellico Work Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2004 - Southern 4WD Association members again performed huge amounts of volunteer work at Upper Tellico OHV Area for fiscal year 2004 (October 1, 2003 – September 30, 2004). Our members spent thousands of hours of their free time performing volunteer work, additionally bringing their own vehicles and equipment to help out. The value of volunteer labor and materials again exceeded $30,000 for the year.

Hurricane Ivan Cleanup and Work Weekend at Beasley Knob OHV Area - October 16 - 17, 2004 - Ivan tore through north Georgia and left many downed trees in its wake. The Georgia Bounty Runners went to Beasley Knob to re-open the area.

Hurricane Ivan Aftermath at Tellico - September 21, 2004 - The preliminary reports for Hurricane Ivan impacts in Upper Tellico are a mixed bag of bad news and good news. The good news is that so far we have not found any major blow outs, slides, etc. However, there are a large number of trees down, some of which are huge and which will be very dangerous to remove.

At the Dixie Run, Southern Four Wheel Drive Association awarded the "Volunteer Appreciation Award" to Griff and Dawn Shirley and another "Volunteer Appreciation Award" to Gunnar Byrd for their willingness to volunteer on major trail maintenance projects.

Southern also awarded the "Corporate Appreciation Award" to Richard Winchester of BF Goodrich for his extensive and continuing support of the association.
