The rig was raffled on the evening
of Oct 3 at Dixie Run. The winner was John Carter* of
Martinsville, Va.
Here he is grinning at the thought of how he's going to get the new rig
home.

Final pics of the rig are
here.
* Apologies to John for getting his name wrong initially!
THANKS
TO ALL WHO HELPED WITH THIS PROJECT!!!!

This great Jeep has been lovingly cared for by
Steve Powers, a member of the Georgia Full Size Jeep Club.
This 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer already has a BJ's
Off-Road 4” lift system with Rancho 9000 shocks, nearly new 31”
Mickey Thompson MTZ tires, and a 8,000 pound capacity Milemarker
winch on a BJ's
Off-Road brushguard. There’s even a Cobra CB in it.
It has navy blue paint with a light tan
interior. The 6 way dual power leather seats will make your butt
happy. ;-)
This Jeep was chosen for its comfort and
utility. It is ready for any type of outdoor fun. There is lots of
storage and comfortable seating for a family. The V8 and automatic
transmission make it easy to drive. The front and rear Dana 44
axles are plenty strong.
We will post progress notes and pictures as we
get it ready for the winner.
The winning ticket will be selected at the
Dixie Run event on October, 3rd, 2009.

RT Jeep update, Saturday, September 26

A lot of work was done today thanks to Brian Gray and Shawn from the Georgia
Full Size Jeep Club. Elaine Cooke from the Rock Solid Jeep Club helped a
lot too.
Justin Smith allowed us to use his shop, Offroad Outfitters again. He also
helped on some of the fab work.

Thanks, Justin !
A new
Edelbrock 4 barrel carb was installed along with new spark plugs, plug
wires, and TFI cap & rotor. All 4 fan belts were replaced as well as the
coolant. A variety of welding and fab tasks were done. The Hi-Lift jack
and spare tire are now mounted on the rear swing away. A CB antenna bracket
was fabbed and welded in too. The rock sliders are now painted and
waiting to be mounted. The interior door panels and carpet will be
installed this week, as well as the seats.
The front bumper and winch will go on too.
One lucky winner is going to be very happy next week…
RT Jeep update, Saturday, September 19

A lot of work was done today thanks to some generous
Georgia Full Size Jeep Club members. Brian Gray, Rick and Cat Carswell, Don
Martin, and Jim Fouty all braved the heavy rains to get the work done.
The new stereo is in, the headliner is in, the rear
window and wiper are re-installed and work, and the A/C blows real cold.
Thanks, folks.
Only 2 weeks left until the Jeep gets a new home…
RT Jeep update, Saturday, September 12
Corey Self and Dave Logan assembled and installed the custom roof rack. It’s
a well-built rack that is very sturdy. Someone is going to win a very nice Jeep
in 3 weeks.
RT Jeep update, Saturday, August 29

Re-assembly work continued with help from several Georgia Full Size Jeep Club
members. Rick and Cat Carswell, Mike and Elizabeth Young, Steve and Kristie
Powers, Ryan Hart, and Dave Logan all work on various parts of the Jeep. Various
electric motors were installed for power windows, the rear wiper, etc. The
interior was prepped for the new carpet. The gas tank and skidplate was dropped,
cleaned up, and re-installed. Off-road needles were installed in the carb. And,
other odds and ends were done. The full length roof rack has shipped and the new
headliner is here. We still have a good bit of work to do, but it’s coming
along.
RT Jeep update, Saturday, August 15

A lot of re-assembly work has been happening. Dave Logan has been working on
the Jeep every day for the last two weeks. On Saturday, Corey Self volunteered
some of his time and more progress was made. The new carpet from ACC has
arrived. The front & rear bumpers have arrived from BJ’s Off-Road are here and
the rock sliders too. The new headliner and roof rack should be arriving soon.
RT Jeep update, Friday, July 17The Jeep is back from paint and the BF
Goodrich tires have arrived.

RT Jeep update, Friday, July 10th
The new tires donated by BF
Goodrich have arrived and the Jeep is currently being painted. Work will
continue once we get the Jeep back from the paint shop.
RT Jeep workday, Saturday, June 20
More work was done on the Rescue Tellico Jeep today. We deliberately had a small group so we could focus on the electrical systems,
specifically the power windows and power door locks. Ryan Hart
(Co-owner of BJ’s Off-Road) and Doug Kolbenschlag performed the diagnosis work and determined that we need all 4 power window motors rebuilt and two
of the power door lock motors replaced.

Dave Logan painted and installed the lengthened rear driveshaft and did other odds and ends. Step by step we are getting this Jeep ready for the new owner. Buy your tickets soon. ;-)
RT Jeep Workday, Saturday, June 6th ...On
Saturday, June 6th, 2009 two members of the
Georgia Full Size Jeep Club and one from the
Southern Jeeps Club came out for a work day on the Rescue
Tellico Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Justin Smith was generous enough to
let us use his new shop,
Offroad Oufitters. Thanks, Justin !
The driveshafts, transfer case, and transmission were pulled,
resealed and rebuilt as necessary, and reinstalled. We accomplished
a lot in 8.5 hours. This Jeep should give many years of reliable
service to the winner.

Sincere thanks to Steve Powers, Mike Powers (Steve’s
Dad), Corey Self, and Dano Michaels for all
your help. Thanks guys!
