Southern HomeAnderson Creek OHV Area

The Anderson Creek OHV Area is located in north Georgia, in the Chattahoochee National Forest. It is just northwest of Amicalola Falls State Park.

The US Forest Service has completed their Environmental Assessment on the Anderson Creek Trail System. They have developed 3 “Alternatives”. They plan on selecting Alternative #2 which would close all of the trails permanently. We are asking them to select Alternative #3. This would re-design the trails and add a couple of miles in order to have loop trails. Please look at the Friends of Anderson Creek Comment Letter as a reference and write a similar letter before January 30th, 2008. Thanks !

Request for Public Comment Letter is HERE. The deadline is January 30th!

Anderson Creek OHV Trails Closure Proposal

July 5, 2005

On July 5, 2005, the Forest Service published a proposal to permanently close and obliterate the trails at Anderson Creek:

Dear Concerned Citizen:

The Toccoa Ranger District is inviting you to comment on the following proposed actions to take place at the Anderson Creek Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Trail System located 20 miles east of Ellijay, Georgia in Gilmer County.

This proposal calls for the permanent closure and rehabilitation of all trails incorporated in the Anderson Creek OHV Trail System. ...

Needless to say, we do not agree with this proposal, especially considering all the promises and plans made by the Forest Service in the past.

In response to the request for public input, we wrote a number of letters, one of which is shown below:
