Subject: Tellico River Corridor Recreation Facility Improvement Project
- Update
On Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 5:00 PM Davis Branch Campground will
temporarily close to continue campground reconstruction. We expect it
to re-open by the end of July 2006. After reconstruction, Davis Branch
will have 6 sites. Each site will have a picnic table, fire ring, and
lantern post. There will be a 5 person and 2 vehicle limit per site.
A vault toilet and bear resistant trashcans are already on-site. The
recreation user fee will be $10/site.
After Davis Branch, the contractor will move to Stateline Campground
to begin construction there. We will only close camp sites on one
side of the road at a time so that campers may continue to use Stateline.
For an overview of the entire Tellico River Corridor recreation facility
improvement project, visit the “Latest Recreation News”
page on the Cherokee National Forest website at: www.fs.fed.us/r8/cherokee/recreation/latest_rec_news.shtml.
The corridor improvement project will enhance the camping experience
for all Forest users and will allow the Forest Service to provide and
maintain camping facilities that are safe, sanitary, and protect the
natural resources of the Tellico River corridor.
