Support the RPM Act! Say No to the EPA by reaching out to your representatives...

"Please support Legislation to Overturn EPA Racecar Regulation and our friends at SEMA by contacting your legislator. This is important to our industry."
- Fred Wiley

Support the RPM Act!

The effort to protect racecars from overreaching EPA regulations continues to build momentum. The White House heard your voice, now it’s time for you to tell Congress to take action.

The U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate recently introduced The Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2016 (RPM Act), which would ensure that converting street vehicles to racecars used exclusively in competition does not violate the Clean Air Act.
Take action now! Fill out the form below to tell your House member and your two Senators to support the RPM Act!
Already contacted your House member? Thank you! Now we need you to weigh in with your two Senators. Please resubmit the form to ensure your voice is heard!

Congress Introduces Bill to Ensure that Motor Vehicles May Be Modified Into Racecars

U.S. Reps. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), Henry Cuellar  (D-TX), Richard Hudson (R-NC), Bill Posey (R-FL) and Lee Zeldin (R-NY) have introduced the bipartisan "Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2016" (RPM Act), which makes clear that it has always been legal to modify a street vehicle into a racecar used exclusively at the track. The practice was unquestioned until last year when the EPA proposed a new regulation which would make this activity illegal. SEMA supports the RPM Act and urges you to do so as well.

United Four Wheel Drive Associations & Off-Road Business Association to Collaborate as Land-Use Advocates

The United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA) and the Off-Road Business Association (ORBA) have agreed to a formal arrangement that will allow the groups to coordinate policy as they strive to work together to protect access to lands, roads and trails for off-road enthusiasts.  The groups have often collaborated in the past at the national level on projects of common interest.  The new arrangement will enable the two national organizations to cooperate more closely to create a stronger approach to advocating for increased access to motorized recreation on public and private land.
"Combining energy, experience and talent with the grassroots and business is the key for leading and protecting motorized recreation," said Fred Wiley, ORBA's President and CEO.  "Without a place to recreate, there wouldn't be a large market for accessories.
Both groups gain ground when we can bring our
combined resources to bear."
These organizations have international connections to grassroots groups and businesses, bringing decades of advocacy experience to the table. Working together, while focusing on the individual missions of each organization, insures that communication and connectivity will create a stronger message and voice.
Tom Mandera, President of UFWDA commented, "Together, we will apply our individual strengths towards our common purpose - advocating for recreational opportunities.  Joining forces to maximize our collective expertise, finding a common goal and organizing around that goal, is the only way to have success."
About ORBA and UFWDA
ORBA is a national non-profit trade association of motorized
off-road related businesses formed to promote and
preserve off-road recreation.
UFWDA is the only international organization that exclusively represents the 4x4 enthusiast.  Comprised entirely of fellow enthusiasts, UFWDA seeks to counter anti-access groups that seek to close recreation areas to off-road motorized sport.

Welcome our newest business member Miracle Truss Buildings

Let's give a warm welcome to our newest supporting Business Member.
Miracle Truss Buildings was born out of the desire to supply a better structural product and a better customer experience than what was available previously in the DIY steel building market. The owner has been in the steel building business going on 2 decades and as a Veteran of the Armed Forces he believes that it’s Miracle Truss’s duty to offer a great product at a reasonable price – instead of the cheapest product with no customer service backbone.

Hangars, Garages (perfect for car lifts with the raised ceiling), Homes, Storage, Workshops, and Commercial applications to name a few. With the Do it yourself (DIY) design you can bolt the building together yourself, with friends and family, or hire a local contractor to easily erect the structure. Save cost on labor and get a better building by building with open web steel trusses.

Welcome our newest members Painless Performance Products, and Central North Carolina 4x4

Let's give a warm welcome to our two newest SFWDA members.

In 2015 we celebrate 25 years in business - 25 years of helping our fellow rodders, our friends in racing and off-roading, find painless solutions to their automotive electrical needs. What started out as a single idea about a simplified way to wire a street rod has evolved into what is today a multi-faceted company with sixty-six employees in a modern 45,000 square foot facility manufacturing over 500 products for show cars, dragsters, rock crawlers and everything in between.

The Central North Carolina 4x4 Club is an incorporated, non-profit organization open to all makes and models of 4WD vehicles. The club is based in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area, but we have membership in NC, SC, and VA.

Our members range from first time 4-wheelers to seasoned veterans. Our rigs range from show-room stock to locked, lifted, and otherwise "loaded for bear."

Welcome New Members!

A big thanks goes out to the new members and businesses who have signed on recently with Southern Four Wheel Drive. We appreciate your commitment to the community and to Southern.

First up is Central North Carolina 4x4 or CNC4x4 as they become a renewing member with the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association. We all look forward to seeing you all on the trails and this journey we are all on to preserve this sport and the riding opportunities for both today and tomorrow. Thanks to all the CNC4x4 members for the support.

This month we have also many new individual members who will be joining us at Dixie Run for the first time along with two new supporting business members. PSC Motorsports, and APOC Industries have both joined Southern this past month for the first time. We're proud to have these brands join forces on our mission of conservation, education, and recreation.

Don't forget when you do business with these fine businesses to tell them you are a Southern member to receive your discount! Check us out online to learn more about all of our business partners.
