Support the Recreational Trails Program! Send a Tweet to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman, and the U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary in support of RTP
Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) will join U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx on Wednesday in answering questions on Twitter about the next surface transportation reauthorization. As you know, the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is authorized by this legislation, so this is a great opportunity to highlight your support for RTP.
If you have a twitter account, send a tweet using the hashtag #StuckInTraffic to submit questions or just to voice your support for RTP. You can send the tweet at any time today (2/10) or tomorrow (2/11) before noon.
Please feel free to send the sample tweet below. While it doesn’t ask a question, it is important for these decision makers to understand the breadth of support for this program.
Sample tweet:
Off-highway vehicle enthusiasts pay at the pump. Continue to fund RTP to protect our investment in trails for all users. #StuckInTraffic

More and more Members of Congress, Executive Officials, and agencies are using Twitter to communicate with the public, and it is imperative that the responsible recreation community engages this way as well. Chairman Shuster and Secretary Foxx will answer as many questions as possible beginning at approximately 12:00 noon (EST) on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from the Committee’s Twitter account @Transport and the Secretary’s account @SecretaryFoxx.

We have been hard at work producing a series of videos which were now very excited to introduce. The plan is to release all 5 Videos over the span of the next 6 months and Introduce The Initial SFWDA Educational Video Series produced for the benefit of the entire OHV community.
We will be holding our first 2015 SFWDA Leadership and Board of Directors joint on-line meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 8:00 PM EST.
This is a slightly older report but one worthy of sharing again as it was a considerable undertaking. This report needs to be shared with the public in hope everyone will better understand the economic value of outdoor OHV recreation.
According to the report, Outdoor recreationists made more than 938 million visits to Federal lands and waterways, spending $51 billion and supporting 880,000 jobs in 2012.
